Increase Golf Swing Speed Easily
Increase Golf Swing Speed Easily
To increase golf swing easily the golf swing speed is an elusive term
for most amateur golfers. We’ve all heard of it and know it relates
somehow to longer drives, but how can we increase golf swing speed
quickly and effectively?
Do you think it’s swing harder? Have you tried that approach? What
happened? I can take a wild guess. The ball didn’t go anywhere! You
were so tense that your golf swing speed was actually much slower.
That’s not what you want!
So how do you achieve the ever-elusive higher golf swing speed?
It starts with your engine. Your core. The center of your machine.
The stronger and more flexible you get your core, the faster the arms,
hands and club will come through without swing harder. Resulting in
longer and much straighter drives.
Just take a look at the main movement in the golf swing!
It’s rotational!
In ALL sports movement…what dictates the power? One guess. It’s
your core. That’s why athletes spend so much time throwing weighted
medicine balls, pulling weighted cables and doing tons of twisting
exercises with resistance.
The same approach should be taken for the golfer wanting to improve
golf swing speed. Start with simple rotational exercises that
incorporate both strength and flexibility like the seated rotation with a
club.
• Sit upright with a club on your shoulders behind your neck.
• Grab each end with your hands.
• While facing forward, focusing straight ahead, rotate to the right and back to the left.
• You will feel tight and restricted at first.
• Maintain an erect posture with eyes straight ahead.
• Do this slowly at first, then build up the rate of speed.
• Rotate back and through 10 times for 3 sets.
This is a starting (basic) core exercise that will make a HUGE
difference if you haven’t worked on your core before. You will notice a
difference in your range of motion and power output on the course
quickly.
You would then progress up to more resistance related rotational
exercises with handweights, tubing (cables)Health Fitness Articles,
weighted medicine balls and even weighted clubs.
With just a little bit of effort you will see a dramatic increase in golf swing speed!

Golf Mind Play: When Over-thinking Becomes a Hazard
What makes golf appear so easy when it really is quite challenging?
There are few games where you actually hit a stationary ball.
Beginners often assume that golf must be an easy game because a
carefully contrived formula is used when teeing off, using irons,
chipping or putting, as opposed to reacting to a ball that is coming in
your direction. Unfortunately, in the time you have to stand over the
ball your brain gets in the way. When you’re engaged in a tennis game
for example, as you run to hit that forehand top spin, you don’t think
about where to exactly place your hands and how you’re going to exactly
position your feet each time the ball is coming at you.
It happens at such a rapid pace – you don’t have time to think an
awful lot about it during play. After learning how to swing the racquet
to hit the ball effectively, the movements you carry out during the
tennis game become instinctive, natural reactions. Golf is different in
that you are given an opportunity to take time before each shot to
narrow your focus and to think about what you’re actually going to do.
Although time to think may seem to make the game more elementary, it
actually creates an opening for a series of diversions that contribute
to the complexity of the game.
As you are standing over the ball, the slightest distraction, whether
it is a sound, or a thought in your head, it has the potential to
seriously affect the outcome of your shot. In turn, one bad shot can
then affect how you perform for the remainder of the game, simply
because it has the ability to alter your state of mind.
What are the thoughts in your head?
Thoughts of your grip position and over-thinking your stance are
diversions that take you away from the task at hand. Although having a
pre-shot routine during practice is instrumental in the execution of
your golf swing, over-thinking the mechanical processes during the
actual game is detrimental to the flow of the action. It is this
uninterrupted flowing movement and a relaxed mental state that is
essential to achieving consistent, positive results on the golf course.
So the question is – how can you eliminate distractions such as nagging
thoughts or other negative influences to improve your game? There are
several approaches to taking charge of your own mind game, but the first
and most important is learning to accept what you can and cannot
control.
Tips
1. Avoid over-thinking your shots, clear the mind of all the
technicalities and concentrate on achieving a relaxed mental state each
time you address the ball.
2. Don’t let the discouragement of one bad shot carry through to the
rest of your game. Think only of your present shot, not what lies ahead,
or what has already occurred.

Golf Fitness Workout At Home
In order to improve your golf game, you can employ certain exercises
that stand to improve your golf swing, resulting in lower scores. If you
are fortunate to play golf on a regular basis, you might not have the
time to head out to the gym for a workout directed at helping your game.
If that’s the case, there are certain exercises you can do
right in your own home with or without weights.
The Home Exercise Regimen for Golfers
It should be comforting to know you can still work on you golf game
while stuck at home with the kids. By designing an exercise regimen that
will improve your physical fitness, strength and flexibility, you can
effectively improve your golf swing and subsequently lower your golf
scores. Here are some suggested areas of focus.
Upper Body
Sports science has shown that much of the speed in your golf swing is
generated by your upper body. By choosing a group of exercises that
improve strength in the chest, shoulders and upper back, you can
generate more speed to point of contact. The lifting of the arms away
from the chest with dumbbells is a great way to strengthen chest
muscles. Multiple repetitions with lighter weights work better for
toning. For the shoulders, range-of-motion exercises such as arm swings
will improve flexibility. Push-ups are a good source of exercise for
strengthening and toning of both the chest and upper back muscles.
Finally, simple isometric exercises such as pressing the palms together
are good for the arms and wrists.
Your Core
The core of your body (lower back and stomach area) provides
stability during your golf swing. Exercises for the back are
particularly important as a way to prevent injuries as most golfing
injuries occur in the lower back area due to weakness or instability.
Simple isometric exercises like tightening your stomach muscles for a
period of time are an easy way to tone the stomach area. Other exercises
like crunches, sits ups and leg lifts provide optimum strengthening
exercise for both the stomach area and lower back simultaneously. Side
to side hip rolls are a great way to improve flexibility in the hip
area. Remember, you need to use caution when developing your core
regimen in order to prevent injuries from over-doing it during initial
exercise sessions.
Lower Body
During your golf swing, you legs provide the stability that is needed
to stay on target with the golf ball as you approach contact. Exercises
that focus on the quadriceps and calves will improve overall stability.
The best exercises for these areas are squats, toe presses and
leg-presses. These types of isometric exercises are designed to provide
muscle tome without building mass. You also want to find some exercises
that will strengthen the hamstrings. They endure a lot of pressure as
you walk up and down hillsides while chasing your ball around. Hammy
injuries will make your golf outings few and far in between.
Flexibility
Kinetically, the golf swing requires your body to do things it was
never intended to do. In order to deliver a consistent golf swing
without getting injured, you need to focus on maximizing your
flexibility. While some of the exercises mentioned above might help in
this area, you want to find a set of exercises that serve to stretch out
joint areas around your knees, elbows and shoulders. Shoulder rolls and
other motion exercises (arms swings, leg kicks, necks rolls) are all
useful ways to stretch out joint areas.
By now, it should be clear there are plenty of exercises you can employ
in a designed at home golf workout that you can do while watching a PGA
tournament. By using this regimen on a regular basis, the results should
appear in short order as you start to see improvements in your golf
swing, which almost always lowers your handicap.

Golf Clubs Purchasing Tips for Golf Beginners
More and more people are involved in golf games nowadays. The first
thing of playing golf should be buy a set of golf clubs, however, it’s
not a easy job for a golf newbie to choose a set of proper golf clubs,
and I would like to tell you what you should consider before buying your
first set of golf clubs.
You need to consider some realistic situations about your game, which
will make your shopping much easier. In another words, if you are crazy
about the golf game and plan on playing the them on the every chance
you get, you had better buy some good golf clubs, and if you just want
to spend some boring time with your friends or relatives, it’s totally
unnecessary to spend too much time and money or effort on picking out
the clubs. You need to make sure before you beginning your shopping is
the goals on the golf games. If you want to save your time to buy the
clubs, you can try online golf clubs stores such as tmallgolf.com , they
often provide cheap but good quality golf clubs.
First, I would like to give your some tips on how to choose a new brand golf clubs.
You need to do some work on the club fitting. If your first set of clubs
is going to be a new one, you might consider a club fitting. Many
teaching pros do an in-depth club fitting that lasts 30-45 minutes. If
you don’t do that, then being measured in a pro shop to make sure the
clubs you choose are well-suited to your body type can’t hurt. The
standard, off-the-shelf length for golf clubs corresponds to a male who
is 5-foot-10. If you are around that size, then standard will probably
work just fine. If much shorter or taller, get fitted. There’s
no substitute for a good golf swing. But brand new golfers can make it
easier on themselves by choosing clubs that are geared to
higher-handicappers. Choose irons that are perimeter weighted and
cavity-backed. Look at “hybrid” sets, where the long irons (3-, 4-
5-irons) are replaced by hybrid clubs. Get a driver with more lofts, not
less. Pay no attention at all to what the Tour players are using. Focus
on clubs with low centers of gravity and high moments of inertia.
If you still don’t know how to choose the clubs, ask your friends who
golf for their recommendations. Walk into a pro shop and ask for
advice. Ask your friendly neighborhood golf pro. What would they
recommend for someone like you? It’s a great way to get ideas. When
you’re finally ready to shop, make sure to shop around. Price and
selection can vary from one pro shop (or department store, or garage
sale, or whatever) to another. Identify your price range and stick to
clubs you can afford.
In an addition, you need to have a good plan about the golf clubs.
Golf clubs are not cheap equipments which can be afforded by anyone.
Before you can determine how much you’re willing to spend, and on what
caliber of clubs, you must honestly assess your dedication. If you have
some financial trouble, you need more time to consider what kinds of
clubs you had better to choose. Once you had bought your clubs, you need
to spend much time to play. It’s very lucky for you that the brand new
set of golf clubs is not your choice if you cannot afford the price.
Used clubs would be a very good choice if you’re unsure of your
dedication to golf, or if you have a history of taking up a hobby only
to drop it later. Well, many golf beginners like the used clubs because
they are much cheaper than the new ones, and they can buy a new set of
golf clubs once they have learnt how to play golf.
Buying a set of used clubs may be a nice choice for the beginners,
but how to buy good used golf clubs is another study. You can set a golf
clubs budget before you are going shopping. Golf clubs can be very
expensive. How much you are willing to spend might be tied to how
dedicated to the game you think you’ll be. On the other hand, if you
have plenty of money to spend and want top-of-the-line equipment, go for
it. A good option for many beginners, however, is looking for an
inexpensive first set. That way, if you don’t follow through with the
game, you haven’t wasted much money.

of golf shafts that beginners should most pay attention to are shaft
composition (steel or graphite) and shaft flex, how much the shaft bends
during the swing.
Graphite is lighter and can help generate swing speed; steel is more
durable and cheaper. Women and seniors will most likely benefit from
graphite shafts with a softer flex. Younger, stronger men might go with
regular or stiff shafts, but keep in mind that most teaching pros say
many golfers use shafts that are too stiff.

How To Stop Getting Angry On The Golf Course
I was chatting with someone today who is a great golfer but admits to
suffering a certain degree of anger issues when the game
isn’t going his way. The last time he played he was one under
after 10 holes, which in must amateur golfers books is pretty damn good.
But the wheel came off on the 11th.
His drive whipped off in the wrong direction, which might not have
caused as bad an outcome as he allowed it to, had he kept his temper in
check. The driver was flung across the course, his bag was hoisted onto
his shoulder and off he walked. One hundred yards later he decided that
perhaps he should retrieve the errant club after all. He then walked
home.
Many golfers are familiar with this type of sorry tale. To feel this
intense anger and to allow this enormous sense of frustration to flood
your mind and body is not a good feeling. In fact, it is a terrible
feeling and stays with you for a long time afterwards. The intensity of
the emotion experienced is in fact what embeds the memory even more
deeply in your mind that it otherwise would.
This unchecked anger completely ruins the game of golf. And so if you
ever thought you might enjoy the game or if you want to enjoy it in
future it is well worth looking around to find a new way of dealing with
these feelings.
Emotions like these are easier to change than most people think. Most
of us simply shrug our shoulders and think to ourselves that “this is
how I am”. Well, if you want to enjoy this great game, thats not an
acceptable thought and you should bin it immediately and find a better
thought process.
Here is a contrasting golf mind set which you could choose to employ.
Another friend emailed me this week detailing her last three holes on a
round of golf at Stanford.
She certainly had a dramatic finish. Hole 16 is a par 5. She hit a 30
yard drive, an ok second shot and then hooked her third shot into a
tree on the left. She got lucky with where the ball ended up in the
rough and it a beautiful approach shot straight at the pin. Unluckily it
bounced off the green to the side on the right, she chipped to the
green and sank a 7 foot putt to save bogie. Not bad after two pretty bad
shots.
Hole 17 is a par 3. She again hit a horrible and very short drive,
and managed to hit her second into a bunker. From there she made it out
onto the green and managed to make a 90 degree putt on a horribly fast
and treacherous green to save another bogie. On hole number 18 (another
par 5) she admits to the fact that she was now pretty fed up with her
previous drives and so paid extra attention!
Her mental strategy paid off and she hit a ridiculously long drive
which left only a 150 yard downhill lying approach shot. She choked down
her 170 club and hit a beautiful shot straight at the pin. The ball
rolled off the second cut of rough at the back which left a 66 foot
shot. She tried to putt but the ball only went 10 feet. She said she
felt so mad at herself! But she gathered herself together to nail a 56
foot putt for a birdie. As she says “never say golf is boring”.
I like her style. I like her mindset. She didn’t let the frustration
lead to anger; instead she turned it into a challenge which she rose to
in admirable fashion. Everybody can make this mental switch happen if
only they would choose to do so.
